Italian Sausage Ragú

Italian Sausage Ragu


  • 1 lb Italian Sausage (mild or spicy depending on your preference)

  • 1 10 oz package baby portobello mushrooms

  • 2 cups of your favorite marinara sauce

  • 1 lb pasta (tagliatelle is my preference with this recipe)

  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

  • Fresh basil (optional)


  1. Cook pasta according to directions, reserving 1/4 cup of the pasta water

  2. Add Italian sausage to a skillet, and brown meat for 5 minutes

  3. Then add portobello mushrooms and continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes

  4. Stir in marinara sauce and grated parmesan cheese

  5. Reduce heat and let simmer for 15 minutes

  6. Toss in pasta water and cooked pasta, garish with basil and serve immediately
