23 Week Update

Here we are, week 23, and Peanut is officially the size of a grapefruit! This week was pretty uneventful, but that might be because for the first time in 10 weeks I was home the entire week; no traveling, no night events, nothing. As much as I love my job, I have to admit it was super nice being able to take a breath from constantly being on the go. All that being said, here is a little update on what did happen this week!

Oh Sh*t Moments

  1. Braxton Hicks - They are still here, and still not fun. It’s not that they are painful, it’s more of just a nuisance. It also just makes me straight up anxious. We’ve had a couple of friends in the past year who have delivered their babies very early, so I think I’m extra sensitive about the subject as well. I am trying my best to keep my anxiety at bay and take my own advice about not stressing about things that are out of my control.

Works in Progress

  1. Baby Names - Still no name, BUT we have narrowed it down to two that are pretty fantastic. We didn’t end up using the book I posted about last week, but Geoffrey found this app that made the baby name convo fun. It’s pretty much Tender for baby names, and because I’ve never really had the chance to swipe right or left I went to town. You can say I went a little swipe crazy. I don’t think we’ll officially make a decision on the name until he’s here, but I feel much better that we have two great contenders to choose from.

  2. Cutting Carbs - At my doctor’s appointment this week she nicely told me I need to end my love affair with carbs. Let me clarify, not completely cut out carbs, but go back to my previous relationship with them. This means bu-bye french fries, pizza, pasta and cookies everyday, and hello my old friends brown rice, quinoa and Ezekiel english muffins. Sorry Geoffrey, I know the free-for-all has been fun, but all good things must come to an end.

  3. Simplifying - I spent a lot of time this week taking a step back and trying to simplify things. Not only when it comes to baby, but when it comes to pretty much everything. I feel that because I do work a lot and am always multitasking I need to make more of an effort keeping other things in my life as simple as possible. I am constantly on the go and working through all of the surprises life throws my way so making myself slow down and take a deep breath is a necessity.

  4. Reevaluating Registry - Keeping in theme, I took some time to look at our registry and simplify it a bit. I paired it down to things I know we need and things that we absolutely love. Having too much stuff gives me anxiety so I took that into account and went on more of the minimalistic route. I feel confident about the direction it’s taking. Here are a couple of things I added this week that I’m excited about:

  • Cuddle + Kind Dolls - These handmade dolls are beyond adorable. Cuddle + Kind was started by a husband and wide team and every doll sold provides 10 meals to children around the world. I will definitely be getting Sebastian the Lamb and Noah the Dog for Peanut. The dolls are a little pricy, but they are ethically made, hand knit, and do I have to mention again that one doll = 10 meals???

  • Mamma Mio Tummy Rub Butter and Tummy Rub Oil - I started using the Mamma Mio products to prevent stretch marks after my esthetician who recommended them to me. I have religiously been using the butter every morning and the oil every night before bed, and so far so good!

  • Queen Rose Pregnancy Pillow - OMG this pillow is seriously heaven. Full transparency, I bought it over a month ago and initially wasn’t sold. It was alright, but left my neck a little stiff and I really missed my pillow and Slip pillow case. About two weeks ago I started really struggling with bedtime and decided to give it another shot, and all I can say is DREAMY.
